¡@ The foyer is about 2000 sq.ft, located at the Children Discovery Gallery. This space is defined by three plain walls. The original brief intends to convert this foyer into a mini-gallery for kids to display their artworks and accommodate small seasonal events. The concept is trying to depict box as a basic functional module. Some boxes are for displaying drawings; some are for sculptures; some are for causal objects; some are for video screening, some are for web navigating; some are for signage and some are for seating and writing, etc. |
¡@ The boxes are transformed into different sizes, orientation and disposition in order to fulfill different functions (those illuminated boxes are for sculpture display). Boxes become a system for display but at the same time they are possessing inherent aesthetic quality. The diversity of box arrangement along the wall allows various artwork displays. When there is no exhibition, the wall of boxes can be a [display]. It is a wall for display; and it is in itself a display. |
